Fashion or Food ??

Hey y'all, so right now I am researching for what genre of magazines I want to do. My idea so far has been travel magazine, a Hispanic food magazine, or maybe fashion? I'm not sure yet, I am researching food magazines as what to include in them.

For food magazines, a pro is that its going to be easier taking pictures for the different food because of how my friends are from the different Hispanic countries. A con, would be I would have to make the food and then take a picture of it. Another pro, is how it would be easier to write about the double page spread because of my knowledge of Spanish dishes.

For fashion magazines, a con would be how the double page spread would be harder to write because of the a lot of ideas on what write about. Its harder to narrow down seasons and pick new combinations of outfits for the double page spread. Another con is how the pictures are harder to pictures because of the different outfits and extra models needed for cover and spread. The magazine is harder to create an exciting cover for the audience. A pro would be how the magazine could challenge stereotypes and could be really fun to create the magazine.

Lifestyle magazines are easier to relate to and write about because of the different topics to cover from hacks to fashion types. The con is how the pictures would need models for the magazine's front cover. For example, Instyle always has a woman in the cover surrounded by the titles of the articles.

After reviewing all my options, I still have a lot to think about in which genre I want to chose for my project.

Thanks Y'all!

Food Wins! Now what?

Hey Y'all, I have decided to do a food magazine. I decided to do a food magazine because of how the magazine's pictures will be better for me not having to deal with models, clothing and traveling to a place like Wynwood for good cover pictures. The second reason is because of how food magazines being created is interesting to me thus, will be better to write about in the project.

So, after deciding that I started to really go in depth with my research. I looked online for less known magazines in food because of wanting to create a unique magazine yet, still following specific genre patterns. The lesser known magazines still follow genre conventions but have less comfort food rather than organic and healthy recipes. Popular magazines like food network is more focused on comfort food and hacks rather than health. I also researched Bon Appetit which is popular and this magazine is about the aesthetics. All the pictures are aesthetically pleasing and based on comfort food as well. Bon Apetiet is definitely one of the magazines I would look close on as well as food network. The less popular ones were good for researching but were not what I wish to include in my magazine.

So, after the multiple online pages of their magazines and becoming hungry, I decided to thinking of what's my concept for example Eating Well magazine which focuses on healthy eating or do I want to focus on many recipes not just one concept? I have a lot to think about!

Bye Y'all!
